Trueblood went on talking. "It also means what happened is mine to protect. You have a door inside you that read Arcodolori. I stand in front of it now. I forgive you everything that happened inside and if anyone else wants to go in there and judge, they have to come through me first."
Fen cried hard. A short but violent storm that left a damp patch on the kepten's shirt.

Their hands touched, closing around the bit of silver for a breath in. A breath out.
Fen looked away, biting his lip. "Did you look for me while I was gone?"
Trueblood nodded. "I didn't like not being able to find you."

😩😩 nfhcsdg sorry to everyone here, I'm being very annoying about this book, and I have zero regrets ❤️

A story asks for little. Really all it wants and needs is a listener.
Fen's tale is his to tell, and he has his reasons for not telling. Among them is a lack of sympathetic ears.
[...]This is but a fragment of Fen's story, legantos. If he can live it, we can hear it.
We can listen to learn it. Learn it to tell it. Tell it to teach it.

😭😭 Sobfest number 2, coming right in 😭

What the fuck was he crying about anyway? He never cried. After what he'd been through, nothing was worth his tears. No trial or tragedy could make Fen il-Kheir break down. Nobody fucked with his autonomy or his agency and no one made him do anything he didn't want to.
No one except Pelippé Trueblood.

😩🫠 oh this is gonna be delicious 🤌🤌

If the needle of Raj's compass turned in all directions, Lejo's only pointed to right and wrong. He led his brothers away from trouble not worth their time, guiding them toward trouble they could fix.
[...]His needle had a keen edge for stray animals. Kepten True drew a firm line against pets on the ship, so Lejo was always bereft when they set sail.

Precious baby, I love Lejo 😭😭

The Reading Frog I've been kinda intrigued by your updates because I also enjoy getting my heart broken by books 👀 But what's the deal with these? Are they standalone, or do you need to read them in order?

Absolutely in order, to experience all the magic fully 😭 At least when it comes to Venery! The first book is An Exaltation of Larks, the second A Charm of Finches, and then it's best to read The Voyages. Or if you don't feel like committing, she has a wonderful standalone novel The Great Dane ❤️ I'm not sure if the genre is quite up your alley but frankly, nor is it up to mine, and yet she somehow sneaked up into my absolute-top-authors list. I feel like if you give her books a chance, you'll get enchanted by the writing so much you'll keep coming back for more ❤️
...lol sorry for waxing poetic ahaha, I swear if I could shout from rooftops and make everyone experience these stories, I so would 🙈
(if you wanna chat about them a bit, hit me up on IG! 😳)

I just checked out the blurb of An Exaltation of Larks and your review of it, and it does sound different from what I've read before, but the fact that you love it and it had such an emotional impact on you makes me want to give this a try (god my tbr.... Teru ur killing me😩) Also, it does sound like a book with substance, and I do enjoy a hearty meal 🙂‍↕️

I'm gonna put it on my recommended by friends list and put your comment in my notes for future reference. 👏😤

And never say sorry about poetic waxing, hahahahah, I love it 💚 You can hit me up on IG anytime as well :)
