So far, it seems this book is about everything surrounding Laura, and not much actually about her. In the beginning, there was so much background about Indian disputes, then history about the homestead act, and now way too much about her daughter Rose, who is psycho and unlikeable. In exploring all the caveats, the author misses the point about why these books are so loved. It’s ok to have a little bit of heroism
