"He turned and found himself face to face with the Badger. Peter leaned forward, put his arms round the beast and kissed the furry head: it wasn’t a girlish thing for him to do, because he was the High King."

Also it just occurred to me, if hundreds of years went by in Narnia after one normal earth year, then imagine how much time must have gone by between the Victorian era in the Magicians Nephew and when the kids find it in Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe...

I need to read some of Lewis's theological works apparently, but his viewpoint seemed to be that paganism wasn't the enemy of Christianity but the forerunner, early people using their imaginations as they work toward the eventual truth

Ok, so this is a confusing interruption of pagan bacchanalia in the middle of this Christian allegory, and it seems like the point is that Aslan is there and it's ok within this framework because nature is being controlled? But he hasn't touched upon all the aspects of this, and it still comes off as weird at the very least.

Ladies and gentleman, this simile was written by an Oxford educated, celebrated writer:
'Treading delicately, like a cat, Aslan stepped from stone to stone...'
