I see how their message resonated with a lot of civilians in Nicaraguan. Elites hoarded goods farmers didn’t want to work. Relied on hs and college students to farm.

finding a contras base and taking pictures as a gringo journalist for NYT is bad ass. The Regan administration still lying to UN and Americans about their Involvement is deep state theory fuel. Priests calling out Sandinistas for heading to the direction Somoza was at should’ve made them aware of their actions. Instead they suppressed some news, more aggression to their opps, and more anti American sentiments.

Sandinistas having amicable relations w/ Carter was a clear indication for disaster. Especially when he had rich farmers and other wealthy exiles thriving in Miami pushing anti Sandinista propaganda and all while the looming of Regan’s presidency was approaching. I never would’ve thought Honduras would betray Nicaragua with letting CIA in their borders smh.
