the "my story" infodumping is just awful. this whole book is basically tell not show. get me out pls

I don't give a fuck so maybe i skipped over something important but why the fuck is she saying to Jane "yeah girl gl w your door" WHEN SHE CAN LITERALY OPEN DOORS? like bitch open that door for her? no? I don't know man, I don't like January much tbh and I just want this book to end so I will not linger on this. This book needs editing - i like the colonialism critique but sometimes it overshadows the plot too much.

the exploration of racism and all that comes with it is great but this is not the book i was promised at all. i think the author got hooked up with a different plot and abandoned the premise, that is promised to the reader when they are picking this book up.
the pacing is also slow and nothing happened yet. i do not care about a single character.
what a shame
