That's a very pessimistic view, but it's also a sharp one, Maria. Moral improvement isn't just about each one's virtue, it is about changing the things that reward the worst impulses.

And I think - even when we want to be honest, the world around us makes it hard. It becomes a cycle -
little by little the whole world starts behaving as if this is normal. But deep down, most of us don't enjoy this. We get tired of pretending, of competing, of feeling like we must be seen different than others.
But we are all standing in the same labyrinth of mirrors - everywhere you turn, reflections distort, and while you try to walk straight, everyone else try to outshine the next person. So the problem isn't only in individuals, but also in the conditions that reward appearances over sincerity. In the end, everything is nothing but a nonsensical competition,in which, step by step, you end up losing your own concepts and principles.
If you have them, of course.

As always, it’s nice to read your comments. You add something good to what I post. It’s good that there is another world where we can find truth, where there is no place for mean things, and where books and conversations give meaning to life. You and I, for example, built a friendship that was never false.

And what is even more wonderful, is that that world is far from the everyday one, but we were lucky enough to find it without even looking for
it.

And this friendship grew in those places where the sea met our thoughts, the sand held our footsteps, and the sun warmed everything we didn't yet know how to say, but how to feel.

Those are things that don't lie,
that stay, tout simplement..
