Why couldn’t Kino just sell the bloody pearl,
That’s the awful thing about it that it then becomes a sense of greed but the fact that it gets conflicted with being cheated by those with a greater greed that they’d gladly even cheat the poor.
So it was either make the rich richer, or die in the way of changing things around.
Wish they told us who the ‘evil thieves’ were
5/5 always

11 pages left but 2:31 and im so sleepy that I had to re read a passage and only then realised the hide and hunt between kino and the hunters was going south. But it’s 11 pages…
I love how determined Juana was to still go with kino despite having the baby, and being already awfully hurt and bruised.
I predict they’ll escape with a bad ending though

Literally a warm book, I hate the damn doctor, I actually want to enter the book to just kill him because he clearly intentionally did that to Coyotito.
And the author writes such perf accuracy of maternal instincts, even as simple as Juana refusing to have Coyotito in his crib that night.
The village people are getting annoying though. Very.
Still 5/5, even with the increase of dialogue

So nice because there isn’t much dialogue so it focuses heavily on setting the scene and helps with visualising what lifestyle they’re living since that’s the main theme and still shows a lot of the relationship and dynamic of the village, despite the little dialogue.
Literally read till pg27 with ocean sounds because so much more realistic.
Style of writing so lovely
