Visits to St. Elizabeths, about Bishop visiting Ezra Pound, really stood out as a great one. Reminded me of Sea Surface Full of Clouds by Stephens, but no actual relationship. Just that rhythm.

The beauty of 'The Fish' who'd of thunk it?
And again, IV in Songs for a Colored Singer reminded me of Wallace Stevens Domination of Black. North and South published in 1946, Domination first published in 1916. By no means a copy. The two poems are nothing alike. But the rhythm took me back to that old favorite.

Roosters - is that a reference to Of Mere Being by Wallace Stevens - for that matter, maybe this came first, I'll have to look that up. Excellent poem. I could read it 20 more times and still be unpacking it. Is it roosters as humankind? Roosters as men. And Roosters as roosters?
