What, TWO murders?? Wilcox and now they find Moose wrapped in plastic long before Twin Peaks. Lanigan finally makes his first appearance after warming the bench for over half the book. Good book so far and I'm excited for the next 70 pages where patient readers will finally get their murder mystery! My guess on the killer? Jenkins, the drug dealer getting squeezed out by Wilcox's hiring Moose.

I feared Harry forgot this was a murder mystery, but it finally happened--in chapter 23, halfway through the book! Highlight thus far is Gorfinkle's turning his managerial techniques on his recalcitrant rabbi (who like the petulant child he is, is in the face of defeat ready once again to take his ball and go home). Loved Gorfinkle's insights on why people join organizations and invest their identities into them.

The Rabbi is lost in the flurry of new characters! Political activist takeover of the temple? Bowling alleys, land deals, police searching for pot? Big changes in subject and tone from previous two books.

Like the cynical take on Archie Comics' Chok'lit Shoppe with grumpy old man Begg selling condoms to a football player named Moose (of course!). Rabbo makes himself disagreeable as always, reading a book on the couch wile Mirian handles the kid and householding.
