Um, no, the police chief wasn't rude or disrespectful to her. He warned her that if she found anything potentially clue like after her husband was made a suspect that it would look bad for her husband. She deliberately ignored that warning, found something and now that clue has to be thrown out because she is the one that found it. It's the 7th book, he's tired of her disrespect ignoring him.
