Never, ever think that your fanfiction or novel idea is too silly or piggybacking too much off another story, given that this is considered a classic piece of literature

Mostly it’s just talking about Greek mythology and then saying what the Portuguese sailors did was better

Nobody tell this author that this book is scarcely read by anyone today, or that so many people don’t know a single historical fact about Portugal or even where it is; he wants to be a piece of Greek or Roman lore so bad.

Greek mythology meets colonizer fanfiction! It’s amazing. It’s always hard to keep the poetic qualities in a translation, but so far they come across really well. It’s also really interesting to me that the Greek/Roman pantheon has such a big role so far, since one of the major goals is to colonize through evangelization and exterminate religions that aren’t Christian.
