The two main characters are finally given names, yet I think I will still stutter at recognizing who that name belongs to. It's always been 'she' and 'her mother'. I love the play with pronouns, especially when 'Regitze's son' shows up. It's simple, mostly simple book and simple ideas, but it's so distant and perfect for tone.

I love how this book uses food to emphasize mood/tone/circumstance. However, it's gotten pretty hard to get through on account of the minimalistic prose. It doesn't tell you what to think (and I rather like it that way), but it leaves everything bland. It's like recalling a melancholy memory, one you just had to be there to feel. And I struggle to relate.

Minimalist for sure. when I first picked it up, the disjointed thoughts caught my eye. I thought I would relate, except the impossible serenity had me put it down. It was of a time and place that I never got to enjoy and honestly I was jealous. Still am to some extent, but after some distance, I can appreciate the beauty. I find that I both relate, and still struggle to. so much feels average, in a good way. simple.
