I feel so bad for Darlington, as 💔

I wish I chose to read this in the fall bc it would be so nice to read outside in the cold with the crunchy leaves and a pumpkin spice latte. The vibes would be so good.

Eating this book up—absolutely love the characters and concepts. However, the timeline is irking me a bit. It’s like something super interesting happens and instead of further touching on it, you’re just left on yet another cliffhanger, ugh. Also, Dawes was way too preachy in this chapter for being someone of so few words.

Had to step back from the book for a moment. Why was a 12 year old being SA’d the way Bardugo went with this? I think there are other ways to show the same level of horror and intrusion without straight up SA. Maybe it’s bc I’m a survivor myself, but I just feel like these plot points being used for children as a way to explain horror is so lazy and wrong.

Book is so interesting so far. It reads like a dark drama/thriller.

Momento Mori, characters name is Mercy—reminds me of CC. I know Maas reads Bardugo, wonder if there was inspiration there.

Out for pokego fest and forgot to update this earlier—BUT IM HOOKED THIS IS SO INTERESTING AND THE PROSE IS SO GOOD. It feels the middle between Maas and Mona Awad.
