“Perhaps I cannot help myself.” His green eyes seemed too bright, his smile too sharp, and Saga wondered if he, too, was nervous about the next day.
“Perhaps it is you who requires supervision.”
“Is no perhaps about this, Saga.” He chuckled. “The problem is, Winterwing”—he leaned closer—“I want what I want. And always I get it.”

She could tell he was doing that thing—seeing more of her than she wished. Saga had the strange urge to ask him to meet her in a hidden passageway—to confide in him. But the look in his eyes told her Rurik knew Saga had already found more trouble. Hopefully, he wouldn’t try something foolish like chivalry.

“Let us play a game while we are walking,” said Rurik, a smile in his voice.
“A game?”
“Game of smacking some sense into your head,” muttered Rov.
Rurik ignored him. “Is game of discoveries. I will tell you a thing I have discovered, then you do the same.”
“As fine upstanding gentleman⁠—”
Rov and Saga snorted at the same time.
“I am choosing to ignore that, my lady” Rurik said jovially.

1. It took 50 pages of being insufferable but at least Silla decided to start using her brain and became bearable again.
2. Kassandr fights with twin blades?! I have a weakness for mmc who do that...
3. Much more interesting and addictive than book 1

Is she for real? How much of a spineless idiot can she be? Actually, I'm 99% sure I was the idiot thinking Silla would show improvement. Why is she being so stupid? Even worse than book 1?!
I'll calm down but for now I want to kick her in the teeth. Whining and running away while her sister is abused and imprisoned.

1. I got this feeling at the end of the first book too, that Rey comes from a noble or important soldier family and knew Silla as a child when she was still Eisa.
2. Do we want to keep making the same mistakes Silla? I hope not.
