Wait—-do you mean down as in a pause or down as in “get out of my house, book”
either pause or completely down tbh! i am still getting into the hang of not finishing books, i feel AWFUL for not finishing something, regardless of how much i am not enjoying myself. i appreciate the thoughts!!
It varies for me. Sometimes I give a hearty, fair chance (ex. me trying to read Alchemised, and getting 100 pgs in before chucking it and deeply regretting my time trying), but sometimes I know right away. Ex. I got a couple pages into Song of Achilles by Madeleine Miller and I had to google “is the whole book like this”, and then promptly stopping.
