There was a little drag in the middle, some worldbuilding and past backstory as characters were on the run in the present, but now we've got some twists and turns... A member of the party lost to unintentional betrayal, and an old enemy come to cast doubt on current allies.

Ohh now it's getting good. Ya don't often see a war horror tale.

OK now the different dialogue styles make sense.

The lack of quotation marks for dialogue is a bit annoying but then some chapters do have them? I'm still trying to figure out the reason for this. There has to be a point to it.

Moving along nice and slow so far... Giving some Omen vibes with this Damien-like empty shell of a boy. Wonder what sort of terror he'll be/bring as things progress.
