Damn, man. this chapter ends with a detailed analysis of Franck's Violin Sonata which, having my current energy levels, I ain't gon read. there are many things to consider and review to pay attention to this right now. At least I know it's the end of the chapter and i only have a few flashcards to make until i get to the next one, which is the analytical method and finally some form definitions rather than phrases.

Wow, este libro es PESADO con todos los repasos. Sin embargo, decidí avanzar a la siguiente forma (la sectional ternary) que tiene un ejemplo de la ópera The Medium (Menotti) [bien rara btw]. Luego de notar que una de las piezas que me van en las binarias seccionales aparece como ejemplo en un cap anterior, vi la explicación que distingue la forma binaria (que parece tener tres partes), de la ternaria. cool.

Okay so vamos con las formas binarias seccionales. La verdad es que a medida que voy avanzando en este libro me voy dando cuenta de que aunque los conceptos están definidos de una manera muy clara, en la práctica con los ejercicios es MUY difícil identificar lo que pide. Requiere de una agudeza mental elevada, y pues bueno, no siempre la tengo.

Wow, finalmente preparé la última ficha de Anki del cap 5 para resolverla y empezar a leer el cap 6. A partir de ahora, solo veré frases para repasar; vienen conceptos nuevos y un proceso de seis pasos más amplio que el del cap anterior. Según entiendo, el cap 6 se concentra en formas binarias y ternarias. Okay, let's go.

Only 4 pages of progress, but they lay out the different designs of a period. There are examples by mozart, brahms and mendelssohn, and I stopped at the point where the author gives out definition exercises. It's 2am, almost. Time to go on to another book.

Stayed up until 1:30 in the morning to just advance three pages with little comprehension. All I know is that these three pages start explaining the harmonic organization of the period.
But one important thing is the definition it gives in page 54, that: the consequent of the period closes a harmonic movement that the antecedent left unresolved.
I could test the Anki deck tomorrow while i'm out working.

I believe I'm going to be reading this book for the rest of the year al ritmo que lo he estado leyendo, or maybe I'll be hitting the gas soon.
Either way, it just referenced back to a previous chapter: el tema de la organización armónica de la frase es tan importante que se puede ver tanto en la magnitud de una pieza completa como en la miniatura de una frase. Es interesante que solo hay 3 tipos de grupos de frases.

Otro libro en el cual progresaré lento. Es que hacer el anki deck para repasar todo esto toma mucho tiempo.
El cap 5 es sobre la combinación de frases y comienza proponiendo la similitud (o diferencia) estructural de dos frases consecutivas según su cadencia (y la fuerza de esta) para ver si es uno de tres tipos de grupos: phrase group, phrase chain o período.

Man, studying this is very hard. Or, at least, making an anki deck for it is. Development of the phrase okay cool. Sequence, prolongation, combination of methods. I will buff up and everything will be easier, I'm sure of it.
