I feel compelled to read this by its author influence on the genre. Nothing else about it, however, is compelling in the slightest. Whatever novelty this book once possessed has been sand blasted away by better authors. This writing feels masturbatory and self-congratulating while also being boring and tiresome in the worst ways. Sterling wants us to feast on his cleverness but it’s an empty meal.
