I have some pretty major issues with this novel, and a lot of them pertain to how it treats the reader.

This book WANTS to be a text that’s dissected, but it does the analysis IN THE TEXT. There’s a section where Raquel is on the phone with her mother and refers to her hair as being ‘fetishised’.

If you want readers to analyse your book, you need to give them space and treat them like an equal.
