Frank finds it frightening. He has heard seasoned protestors describing the joyous, peaceful nature of the marches they go on. But they are describing what it’s like to be in the warm companionable belly of a demo, where everyone agrees with everyone. It’s at the edges that such marches show their rage, at the point where the marchers encounter people who are not like them.
