"Drive the transducer cable shield, S, with the common mode signal source […] to reduce the effective cable capacitance, as fig. 15-3 shows. [p. 218 ]" How does the guard reduce the effective cable capacitance? There’s C dv/dt. C remains the same. dv/dt also remains the same, because driving the shield with the common mode voltage [aka guarding] is a DC action.
