The Daisy - clearly a metaphor, someone the author knew and their life as he imagined it. Daisy representing a naive person who through no fault of their own has to witness and endure such unnecessary hardship.

The ugly duckling 🦢, its a story that i think we can all relate to in some way in some aspect of our life, where we a judged before we can display our true form. This "duckling" when he became a swan, stayed humble and grateful and not vengeful and conceited.
