slow to start considering i didnt have context from the first book but quickly picks up. even without having read the first book i can glean a lot of character motivations, personality, and motive. overall feels like reading a video game. big fan of duiker so far

i guess in erikson's defense there are worse things that happened to less important characters so it could add to the grimdark atmosphere but :/ anticipating how well this is gonna be handled
