I dunno, occasionally I think, oh that was neat, but more often than not I'm thinking: How did you write a book in a genre that had already been bloated, and run into the ground for a decade before you wrote this, and still make all of the mistakes of the earliest entries?

It didn't help that the book put me to sleep twice before the four minute mark. However on my third attempt I can tell that after the prose of Mishima, Vollmann, Bolano and Wharton, this is going to be very rough.
