“Some call me a libertine. Others. Call me a genius. I make love to lads. I f*** women.” This is the opening line to this book. Speaking in first person is the internal Id of this artist. Michelango, his birth name, is his aggressive side. Caravaggio is his artistic side. I like the painting references (you’ll want to look them up) and the characters who are also the models he uses. Buckle your seat belt!!

While fun historical-fiction liberties taken with the dialogues, I am enjoying looking up all the references to people and paintings. Nerd-me has an excel sheet with 129 entries already. Should I add the page-count of wiki's etc. I've been additionally reading?

Like an R-rated version of Caravaggio's life as it ramped up in his early 20's (1604) in Rome. I'm looking all these paintings, models, all the names being dropped, and they are all accurately being used. Just that Cecco (model & Caravaggio lover) probably did not say "How about you give me a blow job for old time's sake?"
