The intrigue is building but I keep having thoughts of other fantasy-in-real-life books that I've read recently and having to remember that this is a different book. Again, a me problem.

I struggled with this one, too. I normally like Holly Black. I did finish and mostly liked it. Haven't read book 2 yet, but I mean to.
