Problem is, these random modernisms could have been easily spotted and edited out… but that they are there in the first place already reveals a deep, deep misunderstanding of the codes of communication of the Regency (not to mention Austen herself!)
I've read several of the author's stories, and I have the impression that she is focused on trying to be humorous and including sensual scenes. I suspect that she's not too concerned about authentic Regency language or social customs.
You are probably spot on ! The modern turns of phrase try to set a specific tone, but to me it reads just… off
