“Gossip, as in ‘some shallow, callow, shameful way of grasping situations’
Gossip, as in ‘some devious woman’s trick’
Gossip, as in girl talk.

Eve refused to disavow gossip.”

Love all of chapter 8, specifically because of the strong presence of journalistic voice.
The inspiration that it has lead me for my own writing is worth noting.
And then to start off the first page of chapter 9 (with what again!) a beautifully strong journalistic voice, makes me so thrilled

Even the cover of the book displays this, how Joan’s face is fully shown, no hair or props hiding her face, her reaction, her “soul” yet, despite everything, she has this more elusive presence
Whereas Eve is a beautiful mess, not posed like Joan. Embracing her lifestyle in the photo by appearing to be capture mid action, adjusting her glasses, hair a little skewed, before returning back to the art
