Something sad about Addy is that she was never not gonna be shit on. I guarantee the same critics angry she was enslaved for part of her story would be irate if she was placed in another point in history. Staff were right that not representing slavery would have looked deliberate and self-conscious for a historical line. She couldn't win tbh

i always think it's so weird how american girl retrospective content like never mentions how confusingly lazy it is that all the girls have had the exact same face mold for like 40 years, when detail was key for everything else. like that's always such a big knock against the line for me
