Now, I've really enjoyed some of Victoria McComb's more recent works, and I understand that all authors have to start somewhere, but this is also abysmally boring and not very well-written, even for a debut novel.

I would DNF, but I've been doing that to several books lately.

FMC is getting mad about it being insinuated that she’s a simple village girl with nothing to offer a prince. Girl, you ARE a simple village girl with nothing to offer a prince other than poverty, the inability to write, and being too trusting. OH MY GOSH MAKE THIS END PLEASE.

Hallie Victoria McCombs is often a hit-or-miss author for me 🫤
I really enjoyed her Mortal Queens duology, but none of the other books I’ve read of hers have been as good. I wonder if Enclave publishing maybe improved those particular books, since I think maybe they’re the only one she didn’t self publish? 🤷‍♀️

Keira Mueller Mortal Queens was interesting, and I did really enjoy her newest release, A Bride of Fallen Stars. I have Rune and Quarter Labrynith that I'm excited to read, but I didn't like Oathbound, nor do I like this one. I follow her on Instagram, and her newer self-published books were ones she wrote while she was trad-published before she went indie so she could publish more. I think her latest books have been better than the ones Enclave published! I'm sure the professional editing with them helped, though.
