This is set in 1897. I’m fascinated by the end of the Victorian era but don’t know much about it. I keep looking up things on Wikipedia, like Edward Burne-Jones’ wife Georgiana. I forgot they were Angela Thirkell’s grandparents! And Rudyard Kipling’s aunt and uncle. Crazy!

It’s been ages since I last picked up this mystery series but the delay worked in my favor. Rudyard Kipling is a character and now I’ve read three of his books!

I’ve read the first 3. Should I read 4, or skip to this one? I didn’t like 3 as much as the first two.
