Aristotle advocates for the right to bear arms as an essential part to a 'good' society. There are some other aspects such as land rights and distributions, but that was what stood out the most. that and a few select word choices, but thats common enough at this point.

As it turns out, the page number is off. there is actually 477 pages. I'm on 406.
We are now finally going back to what was originally discussed in the first chunk of the book, complete with the same bigotry as before. What I will say is that I agree that we should focus on what is good for everyone and be in community with one another. however, i don't think you need this book for you to figure that out.

this last chunk was just him naming titles of jobs and responsibilities. i get why, but holy crap that was moreso a chore than getting through the preface.

yes, tyranny bad. it doesn't help and end in bloodshed. but that's not why tyrants become tyrants. and if tyrants were granted foresight, they would only try to protect themselves more, not be less decadent and self-indulgent.

I feel like i made a lot of good progress today, however I fear that I cannot tell you much about any of it. There was a lot I had to go back and forth with given people/places/structures referenced by name rather than in concept. He used more stories to explain his points this time around, but if I'm being honest, it hurt more than it helped this time around.

Getting to the meat of policy decisions. There was a line about penalties failing to attend gymnasia that put a lot of this back into perspective. I know there were other things earlier that were 'of the times', but it's not like sexism/racism/literally any form of othering isn't around today.
