When I say it feels like Sanderson doesn't trust his audience's reading comprehension, I mean that stuff like this is very common in this book:

*An obviously extremely important event just happened in the book, changing things for the characters and the story.*

One of the side characters immediately says, "Something just changed... something important."

Yeah, no shit, man.

A couple of these characters are way too quippy for me and I think Sanderson and I have very different comedic tastes. It really seems like he thinks bottom-of-the-barrel puns are peak comedy. The book is great, but sometimes the dialogue really takes me out of it.

I’m having a good time with this, but it feels like Sanderson has no faith in the audience’s reading comprehension. Everything is over-explained and there’s no subtlety or room for interpretation.
