I’m able to focus better this time. You need to be in the mood for historic fiction with societal implications. I typically veer away from stories including slavery and the abuses black people suffered because of secondary trauma. I feel better able to hear these stories now because my children are of an age where these histories need to be told so they don’t forget and can remember to tell their children.
