God I miss obama

finished chapter 11/25. while we go through, i am fascinated that so much of the plan to rejuvenate the economy is to bolster infrastructure. While these had their faults, the united states, as far as I recall, did nothing of the sort.

a chapter a day...I am fascinated by the moves Russia did make, however, to try and slow the storm. It goes to show that so much of this could have been prevented, but those in power only cared in the sense that it could get them more power. that any care they did exhibit towards the people was only for their benefit.

chapter 8 is complete. reading this on a money is it's own challenge

'not my circus not my monkeys' says the countries who's banks are intertwined with america. While I respect why small countries wouldn't want to work towards collective action given america's reputation. However, the narrative stating 'they didn't understand the economics' is charitable at best. experts in some of the richest countries, with the best social and education programs, didn't understand. okay.

I don't know much about anything involving economics, and while this might be slim critique, 'unskilled workers' is an outdated term. I get what he was saying, but terms shape how we perceive others. While he doesn't outright admonish either group, given the language towards the end I assume he doesn't have a favorable look on 'wallstreet' and banks. However, given authors detachment, one can only wonder.

chapter 5 complete. it's wild to read something that mentions Ukraine's independence given today. Given russia's stranglehold on oil and the increasing 'concerns' that they were outdated, drove prideful monsters into what they are today. Not surprised.

ah yes, blame everyone else other than the banks. guess the trend had to start somewhere. and by people, you mean the media that has an invested interest in how the banks fuck people over. This book is all facts, rarely giving opinion. it's not wrong per say for that, but I was expecting an expert's opinion.
