Nar Sobbing “She didn’t turn around right away. As she stood watching the train recede into the distance, a sudden premonition struck her, and slowly turning to look, she saw standing there on the edge of the platform her little boy, rucksack still on his back and a shamefaced grin on his face. The boy who had been born on a dirty blanket and predicted not to live. Now, in this land and on this morning, Salimah received him as her son once more.”
