We are in the Umar ibn Al’Numen cycle, he got murked by wily assassin on a 5-year revenge play involving erudite virgins sent by the emperor of Byzantine, recovering the captured Sophia and avenging the misfortunes and death of the wrestling warrior princess Abriza. The bros Dau al’macan and Sharkan, sultans of Baghdad and Damascus respectively, joined forces to meet the armies of Christendom at Constantinople

Excellent bed time stories! People say the past is a foreign country, and, truly, in today’s world, the past is much more foreign than a foreign country! Ja’far just popped back into the narrative with a vengeance. It’s very refreshing and different. Hoping for there to be more magic going forward, have only see one Jinn in the past ~10 nights!

I’m at the part where the Jewish doctor, the Christian servant of the khan, and the Muslim shopkeeper are trying to tell some king a story that will get them off the hook for execution for perceived joint responsibility in killing the king’s hunchback (which a Chinese lady from China killed by deliberately force-feeding bone-in fish to the hunchback)
