I have found this book incredibly dry when it comes to the plot. However, the writing style is so unique and compelling. Hawthorne gives way more details then necessary, but I find myself charmed by it. It is definitely contributing to the slowness of the book, but I really like the way he describes things. Not even close to being one of my favorites, but there is something compelling about it nonetheless.
