We should never heavily bribe or threaten our children to do the things we want them truly to believe in. Such precious will probably produce temporary compliance. If we want children to continue a behaviour, we must somehow get them to accept inner responsibility for the behaviour.

We accept inner responsibility for behaviour when we think we have chosen to perform it in the absence of strong outside pressure. A large reward is one such external pressure. It may get us to perform a certain action, But it won’t get us to accept in a responsibility for the act like a smaller reward will (we will not feel committed to it)
