Monique I also like that, the narrator narrates for an audience of contemporary, who are also living in domes in space somewhere. She is not expecting that people of a different time would be reading her book, which makes a lot of sense for an author, but just is a nice detail in a sci-fi book based so many centuries into the future.

Monique 95%: generally enjoying it, but maybe three things that are bothering me: the first is how sex is their primary personality trait. It’s a punchline to every joke to the point that it’s not even funny anymore. It’s concerning, but not in the way it’s intended. One of the things I really liked initially about the book is this intersection between actuality and body dysphoria and depression. This goes way beyond that. The second is that despite considering myself a fairly imaginative person, I can’t visualize a single thing in this book. The third is that – you’re telling me you were deeply connected and intimate with Q for over three years, and you never reached basic proficiency in her language? That seems almost intentional – almost neglectful, that we are three years in and you still can’t tell me what the person you’ve been sleeping with five nights a week is saying to you.
