Baldwin’s POVs may be my favorite now.
Ivar was the guy that went through it but came out better each time… until whatever that scene was with the Jotunbjørn.
Baldwin is the opposite. I had a really hard time liking him initially because it felt like he was violent for the heck of it… but now he’s turning into what Ivar used to be, and Ivar is becoming what Baldwin used to be.

Diabolical way to end that section. And I have 100+ pages left before I can find out what the crappity happened.

Idek what I’m on about sometimes. Really, this book isn’t the most amazing piece of literature ever… but it’s a good story! It is really immersive and interesting, I can route for the characters, and I love the mission behind this book. Do I have my qualms with it? Yes. But am I gonna throw the baby out with the bath water? No. This book does a good job at what it’s going for, and it’s well researched!

This book is crazy. I’ve decided I’m going to assume that everyone will die, that way if someone makes it out I can be pleasantly surprised. Seriously, you cannot get too attached to these characters or you will end up with nothing but a shattered heart by the end.

Insane how that argument just happened... but it worked. Idk... I'm kinda starting to like Baldwin...

Only issue is that some of the violence is semi-mindless. Like, I’m not squeamish and gore doesn’t bother me, so that’s not the issue… but it seems some of it is just blood spilled for bloods sake. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for blood eagle-ing pedophiles… but having a scene where a horse or person dies due to blind desperation seems useless. Hopefully that clears up soon though.

This stupid book had already made me teary eyed, and I’m hardly in. I’m not even a third of the way through! Maybe it was the book coupled with the phenomenal narrator though. Idk.

Just started immersion reading for chapter 10 (I have an ALC and an ARC), and this narrator is SO. GOOD.

I feel like I’m either gonna LOVE Baldwin or I’m going to want to throttle him. I doubt a middle ground will exist.

This book is going to be EPIC! It’s already great, and I’ve only just finished the inciting incident! The Boromir moment (that’s what I’m calling that bc that’s what it reminded me of) though 😭😭😭😭😭
