A tonnn of character building in the first 100 pages but of course that’s necessary for a novel this big and the author honestly did a really good job good job of it - normally that kind of thing can be boring but I was super intrigued the whole time. I got lost a bit at the beginning just with how many different people were being introduced but I’ve got it down and am so excited to see what happens!!

I can’t wrap my head around the weird age gap thing happening with Augustus and Lorena…it’s sweet the way that he’s caring for her after her trauma with blue duck but then I remember the age gap and get creeped out

Was in a bit of a reading slump after starting work but I’m back on it - whenever I pick this back up again it’s like I never left the writing is so GOOD. I love how it shifts character POV so often and you get a feel for what everyone is thinking/feeling in a scene. Also just read about what the Indians did to Dog Face?!?! DISGUSTING. Also I just love Gus so much #kingem

Thoughts so far:
- I’m super intrigued by the all of the characters
- it doesn’t feel like a ton has happened but there’s so many details and little things to remember
- I’m a little confused about the going to Montana plot line; what is the point? Just better land? Seems like a lot of work
- I really want to know more about Newt and Call - they’re the most mysterious characters to me atp

I have heard absolutely incredible things about this book so I’m super excited to get into it. Right now it’s a ton of character building and I’m still getting used to the older western talk but I’m really liking it so far!
