The bird gets moved from Louie’s camp but then Louie gets moved to his new camp with a bunch of officers. Eventually fucks up his knee when bird makes officers do hard labor and has to clean pig feces in order to get enough food to survive

Louie is still getting his ass bear by this dude and went partially deaf bc of it. However allowed to do an interview so his family gets word that he’s alive.

At new pow camp. These dudes r more badly and steal more than Louie even does. New dude is beating tf out of him but he’s still being defiant at this point. Broadcast told them Louie was alive but never got to his family.

Louie finally is leaving after a year and going to a POW camp in Japan. Tried to plan out an escape but didn’t work.

Chapter details their time as POW. Focused mostly on how they rebel and communicate despite the harsh treatment. Ends with Phil getting taken away to a copper mine, but he and Louie are still alive at the end of this chapter.

Basically next two chapters are them being POW at execution island. Ends with them being moved to be POWS in Japan.

Read another like 40 pages and these dudes still on the raft. Louie innovative as hell to keep them alive but Mac ends up dying like 30 days end. Just finished with them finally getting near an island.

Read two chapters today. First one was focused on their bomb raid of Nauru where they destroyed the island but super man took 592 shots. One crew member died and a bunch were injured. Then right when they get back, the Japanese start bombing them and blow up a bunch of the island. Super man is gone and Phil and Louie end the chapter looking for a new plane and getting a new crew

Most the chapter is just detailing how planes crashed more in non combat than combat and going through stories of different issues airmen faced (sharks, capture, old planes). Finished with detailing how different men dealt with the constant death of colleagues around them.

Louie begins training for war. Hella trainees dying in practice but his group is really good. They decide to name plane Superman and are shipped out to Hawaii early in 1942/3.
