I hate this "hero." He just attempted to forcibly seduce the heroine and when she hurt him to get away, he blamed her for being out alone at night. Now he's telling her to leave his presence unless she wants him to rape her. *hulksmash*
Just discovered the book was published in 1992. Can't believe this was de rigueur back then.

I know!!! I can't understand the romance world of that era. It's probably the biggest reason that most people have a thing against romance even if they haven't read any lately--like it's so horrible and trashy ;-)
