bold of me to assume i could end the night with this right after reading some of the most harrowing things i've ever read in Lonesome Dove and think i could still have a calm and quiet evening

Tbh not sure why I was such a bah humbug before. Im starting to enjoy this

There's something about this author's writing style that's a bit off-putting and gives 'college student who likes thrillers but tries to squeeze in every flowery analogy possible into their writing.' It's also told from 2 different perspectives, which I usually enjoy, but falls short here. Both perspectives are written the exact same way, and so the characters blend together. Still early, so I'll give it a chance.
