Ok now we’re getting somewhere. More of the cool supernatural stuff, this time not a ‘maybe’ like how it is in the more gothic novels. Found out his daughter Kate survived the fire like Moses (which was a fun thing to recognize before the narrator mentioned it himself). Those two paragraphs of chapter 7 that talked about his ‘train dreams’ were so interesting. Maybe my favorite part of the book so far.

Really loving all the supernatural elements of it, gives me gothic classic vibes. Overall I’m enjoying the book but is it weird to say that nothing substantial has happened yet? I mean stuff has happened in the book but it seems like it isn’t building up to anything in particular.

Coming fresh off reading Cormac McCarthy this book is a breath of fresh air. Even though he’s my favorite author you really gotta prepare yourself to read that man’s books.
