This is becoming a hate-read. WHY does Mash repeatedly prioritise a travelling companion he hardly knows over saving his five-year-old daughter?

The pacing of this book is just… not very good. We’re getting these emotional moments of Tao confessing her tragic backstory and giving Kina a speech about how she’s changed and grown… at the 40% mark. Nothing has happened to make these relationships or these supposed changes feel earned.

Approaching the first 100 pages and there’s been no real inciting incident.
The secondary characters have things they want, but the main character is narratively directionless.

The writing and premise aren’t really gripping me; this is gonna be a loooong read I fear :(
