I know this was suppose to be an uplifting book but I just felt so sad for Selina through out. Everyone adored her but her husband. He fought to bend her to his will and change her even though she said she wouldn't change because God made her just fine the way she was.

She was beautiful on the inside from the get go. He's the one who was ugly on the inside. He says he's proud to call her his wife not because she's in a dress now but he was never proud to call her his wife before. I think he's still pretty shallow.

I liked Selina at first, she was strong and kept calling Michael out when he was being a bully and saying she wasn't going to change who she was because God made each person special etc but she's gone and changed to be who and what he wants in a wife. Wearing dresses, talking and walking a certain heat etc He should remember all that glitters is not gold.

He's so shallow and superficial, I can't understand how this is suppose to be a "love inspired" or "spiritual" book other than they throw the words God or Holy Spirt in here and there and pray before meals etc.
The H seems the most unchristian character in the book by how he treats his sweet if uneducated wife.

I just don't like Michael. He's so judgmental and harsh towards Selina even as he pities her for the circumstances she came from. He's the only one who doesn't seem to like her.

I feel so bad for Selina, her husband isn't even trying and she is. She fell in love with him in his letters and she said in the beginning that wouldn't have changed even if he's looked bad. But he's let his prejudice against her looks and upbringing constantly overrule the good and he judges her constantly. At least she calls him out when he's being a bully.

He might not be stuck up because he's rich but he sure is stuck up. I feel bad that both were deceived but he's not making it any easier on her and she's obviously going to have the harder time of it being the one trying to fit into the new situation.

This dialogue is atrocious. It sounds like a 12 year old wrote it.
