This is absolutely fantastic. It is giving me that same slowly building, but long lasting, terror I’ve been chasing since reading Old Country and that is high praise coming from me.

I was warned that this starts very slow, and it really does but the characters are so well-written it feels like listening to an old family member tell you their story. I suspect/hope the switch from sad/emotional to scary/unsettling will be sharp and utilized well to create dread.

I’m late to the party with this one but man, am I excited for some sea related eldritch horrors
