How to describe the experience of reading this? Characters with continuously unresolved anger management issues and a lack of people skills, a dash of misogyny, a plethora of names (+ googling their pronunciation), critical information disclosed randomly in parenthesis, endless page turning between explanatory notes, a map of Greece, index of names, the genealogical tables (and the actual text), and so much Drama™

Apparently, Heracles' solution to most any obstacle, i.e. mostly random dudes, is "to kill them also" (recurring phrase right there!). The matter-of-fact style of the Library is making this somewhat darkly hilarious tbh.

I think so far one of the most common thoughts I had reading Heracles' later story would have to be "what a dick"
